What a mark gives you
A registered mark gives you a formal basis to ask a platform to deal with an account that uses it. The platform checks whether the use infringes.
Evidence that helps
- The registration number and the register it is on
- The goods or services it covers
- Proof that you own it or act for the owner
- How the holder uses the username
What it does not do
- It does not move the username to you automatically
- It does not apply when the use is fair or descriptive
- It does not work through repeated or fake reports
When it is impersonation instead
If the account pretends to be you or your business, an impersonation report is the better fit, and the evidence is identity rather than a mark.
Next step
Send the mark and the username on the contact page and you hear which route fits.
