Username impersonation report

Short answer: an impersonation report fits when an account pretends to be you or your business, not when it merely shares your name. Instagram has a dedicated form, TikTok has a Pretending to Be Someone report, and Snapchat lets you report an account from Search.

A report fits accounts that pose as someone

Look for your photo, your business name or wording that implies the account is official.

It does not fit a shared name

A person with the same name has a right to use it. Without posing, there is nothing to report.

Instagram has a named form

Instagram’s impersonation form is linked in the sources. It is the route to use for a profile posing as you.

TikTok and Snapchat have their own reports

In TikTok, report the account and choose Pretending to Be Someone. TikTok also has forms for the U.S. and for other regions. On Snapchat, find the account in Search, press and hold its name and tap Report.

Evidence should link the account to you

YOUR QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Does a successful report give me the username?

Not automatically. It addresses the account. Whether the name later opens up is for the platform.

Is using my name impersonation?

Not by itself. Many people share names. It becomes impersonation when the account poses as you.

Should others report the account too?

No. Mass reporting is not part of any process.
