Names, script and spelling in Israel
A username has to be in Latin letters, so a name written in Hebrew or Arabic needs a romanisation. Spellings vary: Cohen and Kohen, Haim and Chaim, Mohammed and Muhammad. Choose the form you use in English and check it on all three platforms, since each variant is a different username.
One username on three platforms
| Platform | What to know |
|---|---|
| Letters, numbers, periods and underscores, up to 30 characters. | |
| TikTok | Letters, numbers, underscores and periods, and a change is allowed once every 30 days. |
| Snapchat | 3 to 15 characters, Latin letters, numbers and one separator, and a change is allowed once every 12 months. |
Read the username rules guide and same username on every platform before you settle on a spelling.
Local rules and what they do not cover
Israel’s consumer law is enforced by the Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Authority, and the Privacy Protection Authority oversees personal data. Neither decides username requests. Friday and Saturday are the weekend there, so say in your first message which hours suit you. The price is agreed in your chat or email first.
Reference points: trade marks are handled by the Israel Patent Office, and personal data by the Privacy Protection Authority. These are not legal advice.
Before you ask for a claim
- See whether the username is taken, inactive or free with the username check.
- Settle one plain-letter spelling that fits all three platforms.
- Collect proof tied to the name: a mark, a business record or a profile that is posing as you.
The brand and trademark guide covers the proof side.
